This ongoing fight for reservation is just stupid! I just dont get it. For years now the govt. and various social groups have fought and have finally done away with the concept of "caste". I personally think that the concept of caste is ridiculous for a person does not become fundamentally different jus cuz he/she is born in a particular family. But now the govt. is rubbing that fact on our faces!!
Now they're saying that its not ok to be perjudied against someone based on their caste, but its ok to proclaim your belonging to a certain caste just so you can reap the benefits!! So if any one calls you SC/ST or some synonym for the same,u can take them to court and put them in jail...but at the same time u can call your self that and get yourself into the IITs and the IIMs!!! Does this sound really stupid only to me??!

but, the thing is- each and every time something happens like this we are jus limited to comment on it or at the most post somewhere like this one! but whatever is bound to happen is happenning without even the toughest of revolts from people! Nothing can be changed with ease in our country!
I am not pro reservation. But there is the caste system existing amongst our midst, and we cannot deny this fact. It is a fact that the new generation is looking at things differently, but the system still exists. Then, in this competitive environment where getting good education from a premier institute involves a lot of hard work, reservation definitely is an easy way out. Why expect someone from SC/ST or OBC to not fight for it as they are getting a very good oppurtunity with a better probability of success than their general counterparts for the same effort. No political party opposed this move as this involves a very vast vote bank, which nobody is ready to forego. All in all it serves the purpose of so many people. The problem here was making the education system all inclusive. This is the best that our politicians could come up with. Hope we can think better and come up with a sustainable solution.
